The WDB Team in 1994 | WDB Celebrates 30 Years

Wilkinson Dynamic Balancing Ltd (WDB Ltd) are celebrating 30 years of business under their current management. WDB Ltd is the UK’s largest independent dynamic and static balancing service provider, delivering specialist balancing and manufacturing solutions to the aerospace, motorsport, power generation and petrochemical industries worldwide. They are approved suppliers to Rolls-Royce PLC, Rolls-Royce Deutschland, Pratt & Whitney, Leonardo Helicopters and GE Aviation.

Established in 1968, Company Director Mr Muzaffer Turan took over the business in 1993. Originally from the Black Sea region in Turkey, Mr Turan moved to the UK at the age of 17 to learn English and study Engineering in Bristol. He came across the opportunity to take over the one-man-band business (originally based in Hayley Green, Halesowen) during a visit to the area whilst carrying out a site job. Starting with a team of just three highly skilled engineers, the business built a name for itself dramatically and soon won contracts from multinational companies including aerospace giants, Rolls Royce.

After a year of traveling between Bristol and Halesowen, Mr Turan moved his young family to Hayley Green where they lived in the house adjoining the factory. WDB Ltd soon outgrew the factory unit in the residential area and moved to new premises on the Coombswood business estate in 2008 which is where they’ve been located since. Now a team of 40, the WDB Group also specialises in the design and manufacture of high efficiency industrial fans with sister company, Industrial Fan Services Ltd located in Lye. WDB are also heavily involved in the glass manufacturing and processing industry as well as the latest electric car technology.

WDB continue to carry out working both locally and internationally and have been involved in a number of exciting projects including the Bloodhound Land Speed Record project and Rolls Royce’s brand new Ultrafan engine (expected to be one of the most advanced and efficient commercial aircraft engines in the world). Closer to home, WDB have worked on the Stourbridge Class 139 Parry People Mover between Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town. The company prides itself on its predictive maintenance programmes, quick turnaround times and being at the forefront of technologically-advanced projects.

Here’s to another 30 years… and beyond!
